Successful Wheelchair Project

Thanks to the efforts of Stanley Falkenstein of the Cuba Jewish Connection and his partner, The Wheelchair Foundation, the Cuba America Jewish Mission was offered the opportunity to donate 10 wheelchairs to the Jewish communities in Cuba in November of 2006 in Memory of Dr. Jose Miller, who successfully led the community for many, many years. Each community will receive one of the chairs we donated and will eventually receive another to be used for the benefit of the members of that community. Falkenstein has also worked with The Wheelchair Foundation to bring large numbers of chairs to different hospitals and special education schools which have been donated through the Jewish community of Cuba to the facilities in need.

The chairs were officially presented to the presidents at a ceremony after Shabbat lunch at the Patronato as part of the celebration of the Centennial of the Jewish community.
