back to the news page

Congratulations to Vicki Farin and her husband Adrian on the birth of a daughter, Leah, who weighed in at seven pounds.  May she grow in strength and devote herself to good deeds throughout her life.

Mazel tov to Jose and Marinely Albo on the birth of their second daughter. This wonderful Cuban Israeli family lives near Jerusalem.  Jose works for Israel Bonds International. We pray that Maia  who came into the world on August 1, 2003, will grow from strength to strength and give her family much joy.  A special mazel tov to the grandparents who are still in Havana.

Dec 2002 - Jan 2003. We are pleased to announce the birth of two new babies in the Beth Shalom Congregation in Havana.

The first, Jessica, was born in December.  Dra. Rosa Behar wrote the following about her daughter, Rebeca Tur. "The 12 of December Rebeca had a beautiful baby girl of 8.3 pounds. Both are well. She is lovely with black hair, as her mother. We are very happy with the new baby. Her name is Jessica. Her Hebrew name is Yael."

The joy multiplied on January 19th when Tatiana Assiz gave birth to a lovely boy.  His name is Daniel Alejandro.  His Brit Mila took place on February 25, 2003 in the presence of friends and community and the Beit Din that came to Cuba to convert qualifying members of the  communities of Camaguey, Sancti Spritus, Santa Clara, Cienfuegos, and Caibarien.

Mazel tov to one and all on these auspicious occasions

Joy in Santiago de Cuba

It gives us great pleasure to announce the birth of  Alejandra Sofia on December 23, 2001 in Santiago de Cuba.  She is bringing great joy to her parents, Betty and Abilio, and her grandparents, Eugenia Farin Levy, president of Comunidad Hebrea Hatikva  de Santiago de Cuba and Fernando Delgado.  May she always be healthy and grow in wisdom and knowledge and may she become a pillar of the Jewish community in the next generation.
